KARACHI - Dengue cases continue to see a sharp rise in Sindh including Karachi as the provincial capital registered as many as 192 more cases of the vector-borne viral disease on Friday.

According to the provincial health department, Korangi district remained the most affected with 63 cases reported in the day, followed by 45 cases from East district, 35 cases reported from South district, 26 from Central district, 14 from Malir and six and three cases respectively. respectively from Keamari and West. The provincial health department has so far reported 1,620 cases of dengue fever in the ongoing month in Karachi, taking the annual excess of 3,287.

Other parts of Sindh province, which are affected by devastating floods, have reported 4,320 cases during the current year. The Sindh government claimed to have taken measures to deal with dengue fever in the province after most of the province is under flood while urban centers also experienced record rainfall during the monsoon season. During today's meeting, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab said that the city reported 201 dengue cases yesterday. The administration will start fumigation and spray to destroy dengue mosquito larvae, he assured.
