The sun is indeed white, not yellow, as former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly verified on Twitter after the "Latest in Space" account also shared the same.

Earth's atmosphere causes a dwarf star that is actually white to appear yellow. As a result, the sun appears white once it passes through our planet's atmosphere.

NASA claims that blue light is better attenuated by the Earth's atmosphere than red light.

"The human eye interprets the color of the Sun as yellow due to the lesser lack of blue light."

All x-rays and gamma rays are filtered out before they reach people on earth, according to NASA.

Online users posted numerous comments under the astronaut's tweet. While some people agreed, others remained skeptical and other people responded in jest.

"I think he may be lying on purpose. Can someone else be responsible?" a questionable user was questioned.

Another mocked flat-earthers by saying, “What about the Earth, is it flat or a globe? because there are others who hold to the flat earth doctrine.

Even more, the user contributed a debate regarding the color green, suggesting that perhaps the evolution of the human eye causes it to appear yellow when it is actually green.

A comment regarding the green sun received a reply from another user who identified himself as a physicist: "Of course it peaks in green. However, the colors on both sides are almost the same, so they all contribute to the white color."

This would (mostly) be true even if we could see a wider amount of the E-M spectrum if our vision sensitivity also peaks in green.
