At least 246 new Dengue cases have been detected in Karachi in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Sindh Health Department.


According to a study by the provincial health department, 36 individuals died in the megacity due to the vector-borne disease.

Most of the cases in Karachi were recorded in the East district, where 66 people contracted the virus in the last 24 hours.

Korangi District reported 33 cases, Central District 55, Malir District 28, South District 36, Keamari District 13 and West District 10 cases.

After massive rains during the monsoon season, Karachi experienced one of the worst dengue outbreaks in its history this year.

Meanwhile, as the dengue virus spreads over Karachi, the district administration has launched an anti-dengue campaign similar to the one in Islamabad.

According to reports, medical teams from Islamabad and Lahore have started training doctors and other staff of the provincial health department. The fight against dengue began in the East district, which was the worst affected by the virus.

Dr. Naeem Sikandar, District Health Officer (DHO) East, said dengue spraying was carried out in patients' homes and 20 nearby residential facilities to eradicate the virus.
