The Financial Action Task Force (FATF)

an international organization that monitors money laundering and terrorist financing, has removed Pakistan from its gray list.

This decision was taken at the end of the two-day meeting of FATF held in Paris on October 20 and 21. FATF President T Rajakumar said that Pakistan has implemented the 35 recommendations in a better manner, as a result of which Pakistan is being removed from the gray list. Apart from the representatives of the member countries of the organization, the representatives of organizations like IMF, World Bank and United Nations are also participating as observers while Pakistan is represented by the delegation sent under the leadership of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar. .

In June 2022, the Financial Action Task Force had announced the retention of Pakistan in the gray list, saying that Pakistan had made reforms in the area of ​​'money laundering and terror financing' and now the FATF team was visiting Pakistan. It will be evaluated whether these measures taken by Pakistan will be effective in the future or not. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that thanks be to Allah Almighty that Pakistan got rid of the gray list of FATF and congratulations to the nation for restoring the reputation and dignity of Pakistan at the international level. He said that this is an acknowledgment of our great sacrifices in the war against terrorism. I congratulate Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all concerned authorities and ministries.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that he appreciates and congratulates Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa for his key role in this success. According to official sources, the FATF team came on a five-day visit to Pakistan at the end of August and based on its report, the final decision to remove Pakistan from the gray list was to be taken.
